Close-up of timber being cut in the Paradox Movement workshop

Paradox Movement was founded in Sydney in 2012 by Jason and Andrew, built on a shared approach to furniture making centred on material, proportion and craft.

What began as a bespoke practice has evolved into a broader design language — one that balances restraint with expression, precision with irregularity, and utility with character.

Our work is grounded in an understanding of materials and how they behave. Timber, stone, metal and upholstery are selected for their inherent qualities and allowed to inform the final piece rather than simply finish it.

We work with local makers, suppliers and manufacturers wherever possible, while sourcing exceptional materials from further afield when the design calls for it.

Each collection is developed as an exploration of form, construction and materiality. Some pieces are quiet and ordered. Others are more sculptural, expressive and unexpected.

Together, they reflect the central idea behind Paradox Movement: furniture can be functional without being anonymous, refined without being restrained, and enduring without being conventional.
